Simone Gorrindo’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, New York magazine, Longreads, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Christian Science Monitor, The Best Women’s Travel Writing, Self, and others. She holds an MS in journalism from Columbia University and has received fellowships and grants for her writing and reporting from the International Women’s Media Foundation, the Georgia Council for the Arts, and the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences. She lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her husband and two children. The Wives is her first book.
About Dr. Nichole Ayres
Dr. Nichole Ayres is the Clinic Director at The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Valley Cities, located in Lakewood, Washington. Dr. Ayres has more than ten years of experience, with a special focus on the treatment of trauma/complex trauma, trauma-informed care across healthcare settings, military social work, maternal mental health, and clinical risk management. Additionally, Nichole has a decade of experience developing and providing training across several clinical domains including topics related to suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, understanding the whole-person impact of trauma, and military cultural competency. As a military spouse of over 14 years, Nichole is also an active member of the JBLM community supporting military families through the challenges of deployment and redeployment.
